It’s about time I shared another beautiful summer cocktail for all of your BBQs, parties, bridal showers, and just-because nights in. Don’t you agree?
Well you’re in luck because we’re celebrating AK Cherry Week Day 3 with the BEST frozen cherry margarita made with the simplest ingredients and blended to cool, refreshing perfection. This stunning cocktail is a mix between my Spiked Cherry Limeade and my Frozen Strawberry Margarita, and it’s pretty much the best of both worlds.
Get your cherry party on and pour one up this weekend (with my famous Street Corn Chicken Tacos, perhaps?)

4-ingredient frozen cherry margarita
That’s right, you’ll need just FOUR simple ingredients to make a deliciously sweet & tart frozen cherry margarita:
- Frozen cherries: I recommend using frozen dark sweet cherries in this recipe for their lovely, sweet flavor.
- Tequila: I always recommend using silver tequila in my cocktail recipes because it’s lighter and cleaner in flavor and pairs well with fruit.
- Sweetener: feel free to use agave or simple syrup to sweeten the margarita. No need for any triple sec. See below for how to make your own simple syrup!
- Lime juice: you can’t have a margarita without plenty of fresh lime juice to add tartness!
- Ice: you’ll also need some ice cubes to blend the margarita well. Some of my frozen margarita recipes just use frozen fruit, but because cherries are small I recommend blending in ice cubes as well.
How to make homemade simple syrup
Yes, you can easily make simple syrup right at home! Simply shake equal parts granulated sugar and water together in a jar for about 1-2 minutes until the sugar dissolves. In this recipe, 2 tablespoons of each would be enough for 2 of these frozen cherry margaritas.
Can I try a different fruit?
Sure! Feel free to swap the frozen cherries for another other frozen berries, or even pineapple, peaches or watermelon. Alternatively, feel free to try these frozen cocktails:
Is there a mocktail version?
I’m so happy you asked! Feel free to make my creamy, dreamy Cherry Lime Smoothie and remember to pour it into a pretty glass.
Don’t forget to garnish
I love to line the rims of my cocktail glasses in coarse sugar or salt for a pretty effect, and topping them with a fresh cherry. Here’s how to do it:
- Use a lime wedge to wet the rim of the glass
- Turn the glass upside down and place it into the salt or sugar
- Turning the glass side to side to coat the rim. That’s it!

The best frozen cherry margarita in 3 easy steps
- Prep your glasses. Start by adding salt or sugar to the rim of each glass as I described above.
- Blend up the margaritas. Add all of the ingredients EXCEPT the ice to your high-powered blender and blend on high until smooth. Add the ice last, and blend until smooth, scraping down the sides as needed.
- Serve them up. Pour the frozen cherry lime margaritas into glasses, garnish with fresh cherries and lime wedges, and serve!
