Social Determinants of Health Task Force The HIMSS Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) Task Force convenes stakeholders within the global health ecosystem to provide expertise to drive related efforts in health information and technology forward, specifically anchored in standardization, implementation and policy development. What are SDOH? They are the conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age. These circumstances are shaped by the distribution of money, power and resources at global, national and local levels. (WHO). They include factors such as food security, socioeconomic status (income, educational attainment, subjective perception of social status), access to care, reliable transportation, safe housing, neighborhood characteristics and social support network. These conditions are often the driver of health inequities, or the differences regarding the access individuals have to achieve optimal health. How can you participate? The task force is open to all HIMSS members who are dedicated to advancing the health ecosystem’s efforts around SDOH within their work and study. If you would like to join, send us an email with a brief introduction including your background, expertise and interests.
