There’s something about the end of summer and the start of fall that puts me on a big pancake kick. The boys LOVE them for breakfast and I love not only how easy they are to make, but also how many nutrients I can sneak in the recipes for them.
With back-to-school season upon us I wanted to put together a roundup of my best healthy pancake recipes that are great for kids and adults! I realized that I have over 20 amazing recipes — everything from banana pancakes to pumpkin, gluten free and regular, plus super easy ones you can make right in your blender.
I divided the pancake recipes into flavor categories and noted which ones are gluten free so that you can easily scan and find what you’re looking for. I’m always thinking about what I can add, not necessarily take away, to make a recipe nutrient dense that you can feel good about. Not only are these pancake recipes fluffy, unique, and absolutely delicious, but they’re also made extra healthy and nourishing by:
- Adding extra nutrients like whole grains from oats, protein from eggs or yogurt, and even healthy fats
- Using natural sweeteners like ripe banana and pure maple syrup
- Mixing in vitamin-rich fruits and even veggies!

Let’s be real, pancakes are made extra special thanks to the fun, delicious things you can add to the batter or on top of the stack. I love to fold in fresh berries, chocolate chips, or even chopped nuts, but here are some of my fav things to add on top of my pancakes:
- Fresh berries
- A dollop of yogurt
- Nut butter
- Chocolate chips
- Chopped nuts
- A drizzle of maple syrup (of course!)
