Emerging Healthcare Leaders Task Force

The Emerging Healthcare Leaders Task Force amplifies our professional development offerings and creates a pipeline for students, the next generation of global health information and technology professionals and aspiring leaders. Our task force members represent a wide range of expertise across education, professional and workforce development sectors.

What We Do

  • Offer guidance to all who seek a future in the health information and technology field
  • Refine programs, build resources and drive opportunity for students and emerging healthcare professionals

How can you participate?

The task force is open to select HIMSS members who are dedicated to advancing the health ecosystem’s efforts around education, workforce and career development. Members serve on the task force for one calendar year; however, interested parties may be considered throughout the year. If you would like to join, send us an email with a brief introduction including your background, expertise and interests.

Activities

The task force meets monthly to discuss challenges and develop resources that benefit members at any career stage—whether they are students, young professionals or seasoned authorities moving into the next level of their career. The task force addresses needs for career preparation and advancement, including:

  • Mentorship

    Mentorship built through on-going relationships between chapter members and students.

  • Networking

    Networking and collaboration among emerging professionals and leaders in career advancement.

  • Advocacy

    Advocacy that empowers students and emerging healthcare leaders to overcome challenges in their personal and professional growth.

  • Education and resources

    Education and resources that enhance the career and workforce development of emerging leaders to help them stand out in the crowd.

Goals

Task force initiatives are continually evolving and are designed to attract and engage those who are beginning or growing their career in the health information and technology industry.

  • Build resources for academic programs that enhance professional development.
  • Determine and select webinar topics, speakers, workshops and career tools.
  • Grow our network of prospective and current emerging healthcare leaders.
  • Develop course curriculum and offer digital and in-person training opportunities.
