I hope your weekend was TOPS!
I spent the weekend in solitude. And honestly, it was so refreshing. I cleaned out my closet, worked out, bought new running shoes, worked on blogging techy stuff, and made a few recipes. I also watched an episode of The Leftovers, a new show on HBO. I’m kinda put off by it, but also a little intrigued. Have you seen it?
In other news, I’m a little annoyed with myself for not sharing this strawberry protein shake recipe sooner, but here it is now! I promise that you are going to love it.
Did you guys know that chia seeds pack omega-3s, protein, and loads of fiber?! In fact they actually expand in your stomach so you stay fuller, longer. I buy my chia seeds my Trader Joe’s. They are relatively inexpensive and you can add them to salad dressings, homemade granola bars, baking recipes, and more!
Now let’s chat about protein powder for a sec. If you aren’t using a protein powder, it’s a great way to sneak in extra protein into your diet. Protein helps you to stay full and actually takes your body more energy to digest which means you burn more calories when you eat more protein. There are a wide variety of protein powders, and it’s best to find one that you’ll enjoy. I usually purchase mine from GNC or Whole Foods. Trader Joe’s also has a nice variety.
But this protein shake? I swear it tastes just like a thick and creamy strawberry milkshake. I love to enjoy my smoothies out of a bowl with a spoon; it makes me feel like I’m eating a big old bowl of ice cream. Try it out! Just blend the smoothie, then pour it into a bowl, top with fresh fruit and chia seeds.
If you’re into working out like I am, this protein shake is even better when you add a half of a banana as it adds good healthy carbs and potassium.
Last but not least, I am doing my first annual reader survey! I would absolutely love if you took a few minutes to answer the questions in the survey. Your responses will help Ambitious Kitchen improve in the future. Thank you guys so much!
Now, slurp up that smoothie! xo.

Good stuff! Subbed almond milk with whole milk greek yogurt and added one serving of Less than Naked Whey Protein-Strawberry and one serving of Primal Fuel Vanilla Coconut Protein. With the chia seeds this made for a thick and filling protein packed lunch. Easy and delish meal replacement. Thanks for the recipe!
