Tony and I are getting ready to move into our new apartment next week. I can’t believe it’s already here! We’re really excited because not only is the kitchen bigger, but we’ll also have a second bedroom that I plan on transforming into an office/guest bedroom.
I have to admit that we haven’t started packing yet. In fact I’m actually in Boston and Vermont for the next few days visiting Sarah. So of course, we’ll do everything last minute and eat every last thing in the fridge. That’s why this granola is going to really come in handy on busy packing mornings.
I didn’t really discover my love of granola until about a year ago. And granted, there are some pretty lovely flavors and brands out there, but after you make your own, there isn’t any turning back. You can make it crunchy, control the ingredients and add your favorite nuts, spices, fruit, etc.
This version is simple, classic and full of aroma and spice. Another reason to love it? All of the lovely nutrition from the chia seeds, flax, oats, nuts and coconut oil. Honestly, it feels wonderful knowing that you nourish your body with healthy food.
Some ways to enjoy this crunchy healthy granola:
- With almond or coconut milk
- With Greek yogurt
- On a banana or an apple topped with nut butter

125 Ridiculously Good For You, Sometimes Indulgent, and Absolutely Never Boring Recipes for Every Meal of the Day
Ingredients
- 2 cups rolled oats (gluten free, if desired)
- 1/4 cup oat flour
- 2 tablespoons flaxseed meal
- 2 tablespoons chia seeds
- 3/4 cup raw almonds
- 3/4 cup raw pecans
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- pinch of cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 cup coconut oil
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional: 3/4 cup dried cranberries or cherries
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together oats, oat flour, flaxseed meal, chia seeds, almonds, pecans, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and salt.
- Add coconut oil, honey and vanilla extract to a small saucepan and place over low heat, stirring frequently until coconut oil is completely melted. Pour over dry ingredients and mix well until oats are completely coated. Sometimes I find it necessary to use my hands.
- Next spread the granola evenly in the baking pan and bake for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes stir granola and add dried fruit, if you are using. Return granola to the oven and bake 15-20 minutes longer or until granola is slightly golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and allow the granola to cool completely on the baking sheet so that little clumps stay intact. Once cooled, transfer to an airtight container. Best used within 7-10 days. Makes 10 servings.

Good luck with the move! I’ve done it a lot, so I know it’s very time consuming, but I’m super pumped for you and Tony! Yay!
And I’m equally pumped to shovel this granola into my face. This is sounding like breakfast for the rest of the week! Pinned!
This looks delicious! My family loves the Quaker granola cereal, but I have always preferred to feed them something homemade.
A bigger kitchen and a new office?! Sounds like a dream! Good luck with your move, lady! I know how big of a hassle it can be, but totally worth it in the long run. And it’s easier if you have some delicious granola to fuel the process đŸ˜‰

Oh, awesome! Ina’s recipes are great, I’ll have to check it out!
Goodluck with the move! One thing I have learnt from moving is that I always underestimate how much stuff I have! But its such a fun process. This granola sounds amaaaazing.
I completely agree with that.

I’ve made this granola 5 times now, and whenever it gets low I panic a little inside. Good thing it’s so easy to make! This time around I’m out of whole Chia so will be using ground, we’ll see how it goes. I’m also thinking about adding a touch of almond extract, but this recipe is so wonderful I hate to mess with it. I mix my granola with berries and Greek yogurt, YUM! Thanks!
So good!! I’m glad you love this one đŸ™‚ and berries Greek yogurt sound delicious with it!
I am actually ADDICTED to this granola. I want it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert LOL! No, but seriously this recipe is so so good. HIGHLY recommend!
It’s one of my favs too!! Glad you love it đŸ™‚
I’ve made this granola multiple times and it’s super delicious!
So happy you love this one!
This was my first time making granola and this recipe was super easy to follow. I didn’t have pecans, so I used walnuts. I also used half maple syrup and half honey to make up the 1/3 cup of honey because I didn’t have enough of either. It is so good and I will definitely be making again. Thank you for the recipe!!
Perfect! Glad you enjoyed!
Thanks for sharing this turned out amazing! I accidentally used maple syrup instead of honey and cut it in half and supplemented the other 1/3 cup with water and the sweetness turned out just right, I didn’t add any dried fruit either, End result was delicious.
I’m glad it still worked out well! đŸ™‚
Easy to put together
While cooking the smells is unbelievable
Very tasty
I opted for 1/2 cranberries/gold raisins
Delicious I truly recommend
Love this recipe it’s easy and full of flavour and crunch I eat it as a cereal with almond milk
I added a mix of cranberries and golden seedless raisins
So delicious! Glad you love it đŸ™‚
Do you think maple syrup would work in place of honey?
I think it should work just fine! Hope you enjoy it!
This is a family favorite. I love to keep a jar in my pantry to use as a topping for yogurt or just eat it straight out of the jar as a healthy snack! The only thing I tweaked was to use only 1 TB of chia seeds instead of two. Just a personal preference. LOVE LOVE LOVE this recipe! Thank you for sharing!
Such a great snack to have on hand! Happy you love it, thank you for letting me know!
Hey everyone! This is my 2nd time making this recipe and I will cook for less time this round. Super easy and tasty. Enjoy!
